W.I.P. Wednesday and APQS Longarm Giveaway!

Happy Humpday yall! I hope everyone has had a good week so far. The weather has tuned cold and windy here again, but it sure was nice to have a few days of warmer temperatures and sunshine! A couple of weeks ago I attended a neighbors baby shower for her daughter in law. And I made a Diaper "Motorcycle" since it was primarily a diaper shower.
This was so fun to make and they loved it.  But while I was there one of the girls started talking about a friend whose little girl was fixin to start sleeping in her "Big Girl's " bed for the first time. And that led to how they were planning on decorating her room for the occasion. Which of course led to "Hey, Jan you make quilts don't cha?" Uhhhh, yeah. Well seems the little girl is crazy about The Lorax! And it just so happens I have some Lorax fabric. So here is my "Work In Progress" this Wednesday:

Yep. This baby has to be full/double sized before it's over with. I love sewing and making quilts. However, I get really nervous when I am doing it on commission. Does anyone else feel like that? I mean I have made several of these quilts in a smaller, toddler like size on commission before. Maybe it's the size that is making me anxious? Or maybe it's because it's for a friend of a friend of the daughter in law of my neighbor that doesn't even live remotely close to me scenario that is making me bite my nails and not sleep. I dunno. Anybody else out there biting their nails over something?
Anyways, I am linking up with the fantabulous Lee at Freshly Pieced while I go take an Advil and maybe a nap! Just kiddin. Who's got time for a nap!
And just in case yall haven't heard, you can enter to win a fabulous Freedom Longarm Machine at American Patchwork and Quilting!  Here is the link: APQS - The Great Longarm Giveaway. Be sure to enter. It would be awesome if one of our bloggie friends won! or  maybe if I won that baby I wouldn't be so nervous about this quilt! Happy Wednesday Yall! Wish me luck on this quilt!

  4. I won't ever do a commission quilt for that very reason so I totally understand. There is no amount of money I would take for my quilts and no amount of money I could be paid to make one. So they need to be happy that you are willing to make it for them.

Wow, thanks for the link about the long arm....how amazing would that be?

    Smiles,
    Kelly

  5. Yes, I do get nervous sewing commissions. Especially big ones. I've sewn two Lorax quilts... one in each colourway for my kids. Love that Lorax! :)

  6. I also get a little nervous about commissions, and I don't like making large quilts, but so far the customers have been thrilled, so I guess we shouldn't worry so much.

  7. I would love to sell quilts but feel like commission work would feel like work rather than fun. So for now I'll just keep sewing what I want to sew. :)

PS - thanks for visiting my blog!
