Think RUFFLES!

EDIT: COMMENTS ARE NOW CLOSED FOR THE GIVEAWAY! THANK YOU FOR ENTERING>

Ruffles
Who doesn't love Ruffles?
I LOVE Ruffles! All those little ridges...

When Mdm Samm of Sew We Quilt said to "Think Ruffles" I did!
Mmmmmmm....Good!  So I rushed over to Amy's blog of Sew Incredibly Crazy to sign up!
Uh-Oh! My mmmmm turned into a hmmmmmm.

I don't do those kinds of Ruffles. Well, not often anyway.
So, I headed out to the barn to think about it a bit. I do have a pink and white ruffled scarf I made:
It's pretty. And Really pink. And Really Ruffly. I mean Lily loves it:

I just abhor a Henhouse View,
Dah-ling I love you ,but give me Park Avenue....

But what else could I do?   Then things got really busy around here! Baby calves being born everyday. Sometimes two or three a day! ( I think we have around 27 new babies right now) Cows and chickens and dogs and cats to feed and look after. Commission quilts to make. Bee blocks to sew and Lucy Boston blocks to make!  Whew! So I still had no idea what to make.
Then a neighbor was telling me about a new family in the neighborhood that was really struggling and having a hard time. My neighbor was planning on doing some things for the children for Easter. I told her I would love to help and she asked me to make a basket for a little girl. So I thought about it a little while and decided I would incorporate some ruffles onto her basket.

I love the way this basket turned out. I took a plain Dollar Store bucket ( It cost one dollar!) and dolled it up with some ruffled lace trim and made a gingham bow for the front.

I added some lace and pearl trim on the handle.

I trimmed the ruffled lace to go under the handle area and ended the handle trim so the basket would still swing easily.

Then I started filling it up with cute little Easter goodies! I love those little TULIP lollipops! Eeeek!  I will add some chocolate eggs, marshmallow chicks (don't tell Lily) and other candy just before I send it to the family.

My sweet Lily REALLY loves this basket!
Pretending to be a bunny! She's not fooling me!
I think its the pretty eggs!
I wonder where that egg came from? hmmmm.

She really got her feathers RUFFLED over the Golden Egg!

And Spartacus REALLY got his feathers RUFFLED over seeing Lily in her ruffly scarf! Just look at those WILD EYES!

I sure hope this little girl will love her Easter basket! It was so much fun making it special with Ruffles!

Now I hope you have enjoyed my little Ruffled stop on the hop! I have a little gift if you would like to enter to win!

A jelly roll of Windsor Lane by Bunny Hill Designs and 9 feet of Easter Egg ribbon and 9 feet of Lavender ribbon. I just love this line of fabric! The jelly roll is in the taupe colorway! You have three chances to win! And this giftaway is open to everyone!

Spartacus and Lily's version of Green Acres:

Green acres is the place for me.
Farm livin' is the life for me.
Land spreadin' out so far and wide
Keep Manhattan, just give me that countryside.

New York is where I'd rather stay.
I get allergic smelling hay.
I just abhor a Hen House view.
Dah-ling I love you but give me Park Avenue.

...The chores.
...The stores.
...Fresh air.
...Times Square

You are my chick.
Good bye, City life,
Green Acres we are there.

  76. What a lovely Easter basket. And what a lovely thing to do for a little girl who sounds like she needs something lovely in her life right now. The filling goodies look luscious, also (are you sure all of those chocolate tulips made it in?). And I love the scarf, although I usually abhor both pink and ruffles, unless they are on little girls. Made one like it once, so easy, and the ruffle overkill just ends up as texture!

    ReplyDelete
  77. What mischievous critters you have on your farm! (smile) But that basket is just too precious. What a blessed little girl will be receiving it.

I said hello from you to Marti Taylor, one of your Google friends, and told her about the hop and your great giveaway. I also invited her over and sent her a direct link to this page so she could enter the giveaway herself (I guess that reduces my chances to win the fun jelly roll and lace, but that's life). Maybe Marti will be the winner!

  80. I also follow your blog on Google. Meant to tell you earlier that your comments about the Ruffles and the chocolate tulips reminded me of a great handmade candy store in Grand Forks, ND, about a zillion years ago when I was in college. One of my favorite treats was chocolate covered ruffled potato chips. The salt and chocolate together were fabulous, and they were crisper and crunchier than chocolate covered nuts. Only thing missing was caramel. But . . . sadly, I think I may have talked myself into a chocolate run. I'm trying to resist the craving. Again, thanks for your blog and for the chance to win a little (big) something.

  129. You are very generous to help a young lady have a Happy Easter. I've been asked not to get anything for my step granddaughter until at least the end of summer (that's Easter and her birthday). I hate it and I feel I have to support her mom's discipline. She was caught having stolen her mom's cigarettes. Some are missing. And, of course, she lied about it until she finally had to confess. Her mom made her take all except necessities out of her room - she has 7 sets of clothes, sock, underwear. Mom and went and bought a basic alarm clock instead of a radio clock. Everything is locked in their outdoor shed. The little girl is 12. A couple of years ago, she and another girl were caught having taken her mom's then boyfriend's beer from the fridge. So, she's in a heap of trouble. So, you are wonderful to give someone in need a wonderful gift. When I started trying to do that year round, it made every day more like Christmas (and Easter). It gave meaning to my life. I love the way you bring the blog to life for me. I went to my grief group tonight and often think of your neighbor. It's tough and I see people still struggling with grief years later. Thanks for participating in the hop and the generous giveaway.

If I win could I swap the Moda for Lily please, with the pink ruffly scarf too, of course, since it suits her complexion so much! That Chook is a Treasure lol
What a lovely thing to do to helping out neighbours like that, if only more of us thought that way and less about only ourselves, humanity would be a whole lot better : )
And the basket youve put together is so lovely and I reckon any little girls would be chuffed with a gift like that! That was smart 'ruffly' thinking lol
