Farm Love Friday 10.9.15

It is so hard to believe that Autumn is here. My scraggly pot of Sedum has made a come back and is blooming. A GIANT dandelion is growing behind a small trailer. It is way over my head even with me standing on the trailer. Maybe I should call Guinness Book of World records. Libby is 15 months old and the bull has been after her. We put her up in the barn because we don't want her bred yet. She loves laying in the hay as much as eating it. Every time I walk past the hay barn, my brow furrows with worry at the how much we have left to go to see it full for the winter. I don't think we are going to make it this year. I've lost count over the last few weeks as to how many calves we still have. The Morning Doves have abandoned the pine by the barn. I love how the little white, wild Asters make me smile. My sweet Lily seems to be really lonely with out Lucy. She doesn't hang around the other chickens much. We lost Lucy this summer and I really miss her. (is it crazy to say I miss a chicken? Have I turned into the crazy chicken lady?)And I seem to be growing Cat Nip Nap without even trying.
How is your Autumn starting out?
And no post would be complete without a Patchwork of the Crosses block.

Thank you for stopping by ya'll.
Happy Friday!

Woohoo! Congratulations ladies and Thank you for sharing your great tip, technique or tutorial with us!

Now don't despair if you didn't win this time because we will do it all over again on Saturday, November 7th! So get those projects and ideas ready to share! We will once again have a Sponsored giveaway from the Fat Quarter Shop and Aurifil thread! So if you didn't get a chance to stop by and tell them Thank you, please drop by and show them some love!

Now, I had a few questions regarding linking up. First you must link to an ACTUAL POST either on Facebook or your blog. You can link to Flickr but be aware that Flickr is not compatible with a lot of today's tablets and Smart phones so you may not get many visitors. Also you must actually LINK UP. Just leaving a comment on the facebook page or blog post does not qualify as a link up. Linking up is very easy - just follow the steps through the Linky tool that is at the bottom of the Link Party page! Also, be sure to visit the other participants that are linking up! . We all enjoy receiving feedback on our projects and ideas! Plus it is a GREAT way to make new friends and gain lots of inspiration.

Also, please don't forget to add either a text link in your post directing people to the Linky Party or post the Sew Simple Saturday Logo on your blog! . Someone mentioned that they could not get the Button code to work correctly for them. I am not sure why. I removed the code and reworked it, so therefore those of you that it did work for previously,  has now probably had it disappear. Sorry for the inconvenience, if you could please re-post it to your blogs I would greatly appreciate it.  We want all of  your friends to be able to find the party too!
Sew get those ideas and projects ready! We will see you right here on November 7th for the next Sew Simple Saturday Linky Party!
Happy stitching everyone!

"Sew Simple Saturday" - October 2015

Hi everyone and welcome to our first Sew Simple Saturday! One thing that I LOVE about our Sewing and Crafting community is how much we like to share our knowledge and encourage and help others. So the FIRST Saturday of every month we will have a Linky Party to link up our tips, techniques and tutorials.Everyone loves and needs a little encouragement, so be sure and spread the comment love around!

I have a simple little Halloween project that is all Treats and no Tricks that I would like to share to get this party started! We live in a very rural area and just don't get many visitors at Halloween. Except for two little sweeties from down the road. I always like to make their Treats a little extra special. I usually give them a store bought bag each with a Caramel Apple, Halloween cookies and other sweet treats. Maybe even a little book or two. So this year I wanted to put to good use some cute little Halloween Hexagons:

I found these adorable little Gift bags that I think are just the right size for little ones! And I love the colors!
I took one of the Hexagon kits and made a hexie flower for the little girl! I decided to hot glue the hexie flower onto the bag. I left the papers in the hexagons so the glue would not come through the fabric. I think it is simple but really cute! Ashley will love the little Black Kitten!

For the little boy, I decided to use one of the strips from a Fat Quarter and create a Halloween scene across the bottom of the bag!  I used a lightweight Heat n'bond and simply ironed it on across the bottom of  the bag! (Only press it for about 10 seconds with a warm iron) I think Trevor will really like it!

I will have to wait until closer to Halloween to make the Caramel Apples and Halloween Cookies. I have plenty of time to shop for some fun goodies too! I love spoiling these two.
I can't wait to fill up these two bags with lots of goodies!

I hope they like their Trick or Treat bags! And I hope you enjoyed this Sew Simple  Halloween idea!

Now lets get this party started and link up your Sew Simple ideas, tips, techniques and tutorials!

Here are a few tips and guidelines!

1. Using the Linky tool below,  link to your blog post or face book post.
2. Be sure your face book post is set to public so we can all see it.
3. Be sure to link to your actual blog/facebook post not your blog/facebook homepage. We want to be able to find your Sew Simple link!
4.Please post the Sew Simple Saturday Button ( the button and HTML code are on the right sidebar of this blog)  somewhere on your blog OR include the text link in your post. It helps to spread the word. The more people that link up, the more fun and encouragement we will receive!
5.Visit as many of the other link ups as possible. Everyone loves to gain feedback on their hard work. And be sure and spread the comment love far and wide!
6. Following my blog is not a requirement, but it is greatly appreciated, plus you won't miss a thing!
7. Be sure and stop by our sponsors , Aurifil  and Fat Quarter Shop, and let them know how much you appreciate their continued support and giveaways! They are the most awesome companies that truly love our community!

Two winners will be chosen using Random Number Generator and the two winners will be announced Wednesday October 7th!
One winner will receive this STUNNING 10 Large Spools Collection from Aurifil!

The second winner will receive a $25.00 Gift certificate from the Fat Quarter Shop to spend in their online shop ! Woohoo!!!!!!
